The president of the United States of America; Donald J. Trump has signed an executive order delaying TikTok's ban by a 75-day extension to comply with a law that requires the firm to either sell or allow the ban of the platform.
President Trump says during that time, the US will not enforce the law passed by Congress last year and signed by the former President Joe Biden.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, he said: "I tell you what. Every rich person has called me about TikTok."
The president is seeking a 50-50 partnership between "the United States" and its Chinese owner ByteDance although he has not given any further details on how that might work.
Donald J. Trump also said his new trade tariffs on China could be contingent on a deal over the platform's ownership.
He said; "It would be somewhat of a hostile act if Beijing rejected a deal".
Earlier during Trump's first run as president, he was also of the opinion to get a ban on the platform in 2020 but when asked by a reporter why he's had a change of heart recently, Trump responded: "Because I got to use it."
What do you think ByteDance will do?
