Timileyin Ajayi, a gospel singer, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member. Ajayi made the plea at the High Court of Justice in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where he was arraigned on a single count of culpable homicide punishable by death.
Ajayi was arrested two weeks ago near a church in Nasarawa State, where he was found carrying Salome's severed head in a bag. The discovery led to a mob attack, which was prevented by police intervention. Further investigations uncovered other dismembered parts of Salome's body in Ajayi's residence.
In a shocking twist, Ajayi had earlier confessed to the crime, citing Salome's alleged infidelity as the motive. However, his plea of not guilty has raised questions about his earlier confession. The case is ongoing, and Ajayi's fate remains uncertain.
