Emmanuel Etim, Executive Director of the Advocate for Health and Rights of Women and Youth Initiative, recently discussed his personal encounter with gender-based violence (GBV) and its societal implications. Etim recounted witnessing his late mother endure domestic abuse from his father, a traumatic experience that fuels his dedication to combating GBV.
He emphasized that GBV encompasses more than physical abuse, extending to workplace discrimination and online harassment. Etim noted that while both men and women can be victims, women are often more vocal about their experiences. His narrative serves as a call to action for comprehensive measures to support victims and address all forms of GBV.
