Nigerian Billionaire Folorunsho Alakija Reportedly Loses Eyesight

Lady

Folorunsho Alakija, the 73-year-old founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil, has reportedly lost her vision. Sources indicate that her health issues began after a near air mishap while traveling with her husband, Modupe Alakija, leading to a spike in her blood pressure and subsequent vision problems. In response, she reportedly acquired a new private jet to avoid flying on the same aircraft as her husband. Despite these measures, her eyesight continued to deteriorate until she ultimately lost her vision.

In addition to her business ventures, Alakija is known for her philanthropic efforts and spiritual pursuits. Around 2004, she began hosting a small fellowship in her home, which evolved into the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International. On her 69th birthday, she was ordained as an Apostle. As of 2020, Forbes estimated her net worth at $1 billion, and in 2015, she was ranked as the 87th most powerful woman in the world.
