A Nigerian woman, Kate Chinagorom Eze, has sparked discussions online after claiming that many married women struggle with bitterness and depression because they constantly check their husbands’ phones.
In a Facebook post, she shared her observations, stating that some women become consumed by suspicion, leading to stress-related illnesses.
“Having women in a close community has opened my eyes to why many are bitter and depressed. One major reason is that married women feed on their husbands’ phones like food, which has caused different types of illnesses,” she wrote.
She recounted a case where a woman developed health issues due to sleepless nights spent monitoring her husband’s phone. The woman reportedly became so anxious over a message from her husband’s ex that she got into an accident while distracted by her thoughts.
Despite her husband's reassurance that there was no ongoing affair, she confronted the other woman, who, out of anger, made false claims just to escalate the situation. This emotional turmoil eventually landed the wife in the hospital for several days.
Eze’s post has since stirred reactions, with some agreeing that constantly checking a partner’s phone can lead to unnecessary stress, while others argued that transparency in marriage is essential.
