A devastating bandit attack on a church camp in Nyanya, Nasarawa, has left three worshippers dead and several others abducted.
The Divine Majesty Worship Ministry, a church in the town, was attacked by bandits last Monday, according to Ramhan Nansel, Nasarawa police spokesperson.
The bandits broke into the church's hostel, where financially constrained worshippers were housed, during a nighttime prayer vigil. They killed three people and abducted several others, demanding a ransom of N100 million.
However, in a swift response, the police were able to rescue the abducted persons within 48 hours and reunite them with their families.
The attack highlights the growing concern of insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in rural areas where banditry and kidnapping have become rampant.
