Two South Korean Air Force pilots face criminal negligence charges after mistakenly bombing a village during a training exercise, injuring at least 29 people.
The incident occurred in Pocheon, near the North Korean border, when two KF-16 jets accidentally dropped eight bombs on civilian areas. Investigators found that incorrect coordinates were entered into the aircraft’s systems, leading to the strike.
Both pilots have been removed from duty, and their certifications are under review. The Air Force chief of staff apologized and pledged a full review of safety protocols. Meanwhile, local officials demand stricter measures to prevent future accidents.
