Tirupur Tragedy: Elderly Couple Brutally Hacked to Death by Relative Over Farm Dispute

A shocking case of family violence has emerged in Tirupur, where an elderly couple was brutally hacked to death by their own relative over a long-standing dispute.

The victims, 82-year-old Palanisamy and his 75-year-old wife Parvatham, were found murdered in their farmhouse in Unjapalayam near Avinashi on Thursday morning. According to police reports, their deaths stemmed from a heated argument with their neighbor and relative, Ramesh (43), an employee at a textile firm.

Authorities revealed that tensions had been brewing between the couple and Ramesh due to his goats and hens frequently straying into their farm. On Wednesday night, a quarrel escalated, and in a fit of rage—fueled by alcohol—Ramesh reportedly grabbed a sickle from his house and brutally attacked the couple, killing them on the spot.

The following morning, Ramesh called his parents, informing them of the tragedy before attempting to flee. He discarded his blood-stained clothes in a nearby well and tried to escape on his two-wheeler. However, fate had other plans—he lost control of the vehicle near Devarampalayam on Avinashi Bypass Road and crashed.

Injured from the accident, Ramesh was taken to Avinashi Government Hospital, where he later confessed to the crime. Police are keeping him under close supervision as further investigations unfold.

The elderly couple leaves behind three children—son Velusamy (53) and daughters Kalaimani (43) and Gandhimathi (39)—who are all married and settled elsewhere.

The Avinashi police have registered a case of murder and continue their probe into this tragic case of violence that turned deadly over a seemingly minor dispute.
